Because chronic pain can be so debilitating and is a problem that never really goes away, we have developed a programme to help people manage it to keep it at a tolerable level so they can go about their lives without it holding them back.  Regular floatation has proven to be a very effective method of managing long term pain conditions, therefore we are now offering a programme which allows chronic pain sufferers to first get on top of their pain and keep it at a manageable level.  This three-month programme gives you a float every week for the first six weeks and then a float every two weeks for the rest of the programme.Â
Something that can exacerbate and prolong pain is muscle tension, which is why sufferers can experience immediate relief from their pain when floating.  When you float, your body is totally free from gravity and can relax completely.  Your muscles relax, which releases strain on joints and bones so blood can flow more freely and the tightness which causes pain or makes it worse simply melts away.  When this happens, people often find that their mood greatly improves, and they feel better equipped to deal with any lingering pain.
Fortunately, this pain relief effect is accumulative, so people often experience greater pain relief each time they float. Not only do already soothed muscles let go even further, your body will become more used to relaxing in the float pod so will do so more quickly and more deeply each time you float. This is why our pain relief programme begins with six weeks of weekly floats. It means the pain relief can accumulate week on week to help it reach a manageable level. For the rest of the programme, this level is maintained through fortnightly floats and, after the programme is finished, monthly floats should be sufficient to maintain the pain relief effect.
In addition to the physical benefits for long term pain sufferers, floating also produces positive results in mental health to help people feel better all round. Being totally free from external stimuli allows the mind to relax as well as the body. The mind and body relaxing effect reduces stress hormones in the body such as cortisol and stimulates the production of ‘feel good’ hormones like serotonin and endorphins. These hormones are also known to reduce pain. Altogether, regular floating boosts mood, improves sleep and reduces stress, so chronic pain sufferers can benefit from feeling more comfortable in their body and mind as well as getting better sleep to help improve their energy levels.
Floatation therapy is proven to help many sufferers of long term pain conditions such as fibromyalgia however, every body is different so if you would like to talk to us about whether we think our long term pain relief programme would help you, we would be very happy to hear from you. If you would like any more information about this programme, please call 01273 933 680, email reception@thefloatspa.co.uk or why not book in a free consultation call with Camille.
