Sue Kalicinska has not always been an
acupuncturist…she says:
“I made a radical career change and went from being a medical physicist to
embracing alternative therapies and helping people through acupuncture.”
Sue was originally a physicist working in medical physics. She has degrees in physics and
nuclear technology. She got to thinking that there must be a more natural way of helping
people to stay healthy or regain health that didn’t involve animal research.
At the time she was suffering from terrible hay fever. A friend recommended acupuncture.
She was amazed to find that as a result of the treatment, her symptoms disappeared. She
knew she had found something powerful and wanted to share the discovery with others. So,
she decided to make a complete career change and train to become an acupuncturist.
Before she started training, she spent two years as a VSO volunteer science teacher in
Tuvalu. When her placement was up, she was still sure about the career change and started
her acupuncture degree course.
For the last 30 years she has been helping people recover from all kinds of health problems,
including back and neck pain, sciatica, frozen shoulder, migraines, digestive problems and
allergies, arthritis, hormonal issues, to name a few. Sue treats all ages including babies and
children as well as women during pregnancy. She also helps men and women with fertility
problems, with acupuncture alone and also alongside IVF.
She takes an holistic approach to healing, helping people to understand themselves, which
allows their body to begin the healing process. Sue works with each person as an individual,
putting you first and how any issues are affecting you uniquely. She aims to offer a complete
approach to well-being. It’s not just about getting better from a complaint, rather it’s about
understanding how to maintain your health, cope with stresses and really get the best out of
life.
Another wonderful aspect of Sue’s work is the Acupuncture Facial. This gives you the ‘feel
good factor’ plus! With facial acupuncture you can feel and look good. It is sometimes called
cosmetic acupuncture but it does more than reduce wrinkles as it works on your inner wellbeing as well as the outer appearance.
Sue undertakes ongoing study in the varied aspects of acupuncture and for many years she
facilitated a regional CPD program for the British Acupuncture Council, of which she is a
founding member. She has also been on the teaching faculty of her alma mater, the
International College of Oriental Medicine.
